We Care about our Columbia Community
At Rutter and Sleeth Law Offices, our sincere concern for the well-being of others doesn’t stop with our clients. Attorneys Jim Rutter and Brian Sleeth are dedicated to giving back to the local community and supporting organizations that will make Columbia a stronger, safer place. We recognize the importance of creating opportunities and strengthening community relationships.
Some community organizations supported by Rutter and Sleeth Law Offices include:
- Our Lady of Lourdes Giving Tree

- McGivney Catholic Education Fund
- Boy Scouts of America
- Central Missouri Humane Society
- The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri

Jim Rutter has been involved with the Boy Scouts for more than 50 years in Columbia. He joined as a Cub Scout in 1958, earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1969, and became an adult leader in 1995—a position he still holds today. Brian Sleeth is currently the Advocate for Council 1529 of the Knights of Columbus, a position he has held since 2003. He also is a founding member of the McGivney Catholic Education Fund and has served on its Board of Directors since 2013. Brian is actively involved in fundraising and supporting Fr. Tolton High School.
“These organizations truly look out for the members of our community who need assistance,” Brian says. “I feel as though it’s my responsibility, as a member of the community and a parent, to give back and not just sit back.”
